ESG Process

CT follow a 3 step process when determining stocks to be included in their funds:

1. Avoid investment in companies deemed to be socially or environmentally damaging or unsustainable business practices.

2. Invest in companies making a positive contribution to society and the environment.

3. Improve by encouraging best practice management of environmental, social and governance issues through engagement and voting.

CT have a dedicated ESG team made up of 21 professionals with experienced specialists for high risk sectors and each covering different elements of ESG.

Positive Screening

CT actively include companies who are orientated to providing sustainability solutions, highlighted later in the ‘Key Themes’ Section.

They also make reference to the UN Sustainable Development Goals when identifying investments making a positive impact on society & the environment.

Exclusion Policies

Exclude ‘sin stocks’ – fossil fuels, weapons and tobacco. They also screen out companies in breach of UN Global Compact or deemed poor management of ESG are also excluded.

Key Themes

CT proactively allocate to investments whose activities are oriented to providing sustainability solutions. These investments include alignment with key themes such as:

  • Health & wellbeing
  • Resource efficiency
  • Technological innovation

  • Responsible finance

Cost

The average OCF over the full range and share classes is 0.37%. This is very competitive for an actively managed ESG range.

Investment Performance

The fund range performance is measured against the Mixed Investment sector averages according to the risk profile of each fund.

The funds have only been running since 2019 or 2021, so only short term performance is available. Measuring cumulative performance, all funds in the range are consistently underperforming the sector average over all time periods. Performance was measured up to 31st May 2022.

Past performance is not a guide to future performance.

Tenet Opinion

CT have a robust and detailed ESG policy which we believe will cover the majority of clients who would like their investments to make a positive impact to the world and more specifically to the key themes identified .

Whilst elements of this fund will have high impact investments, the overall portfolio would suit clients looking to do their bit of good without excluding large chunks of the investment universe.

CT also produce impact reports providing detailed insight into how their investments have made a difference.
